Personality

Shaped by the ravages of the Dragonsong War, Lucien is a disciplined, yet reserved member of the Order of the Knights Dragoon. As the last living member of his house, a cloak of somberness drapes over the man, leading to his distant and reserved mien. Despite his reserved demeanor, the knight carries himself with confidence, prepared to face any challenge at the tip of his lance.

Appearance

Tall and athletic, Lucien is a sun-kissed Elezen with soft viridescent eyes. In contrast to his gentle green eyes, Lucien bears a slimmer and sharper face, hawkish in appearance. Raven-black hair crowns the Elezen, complimenting his sharper features. Often cut short, the Dragoon leaves just enough length to part or sweep his obsidian hair to his liking. Notably, a scar lines Lucien's right cheek, an angled streak beginning just below his eye, tapering down to the tip of his jaw.

Background

Born into the illustrious House Renault, Lucien entered the world as the youngest and second son of Edouard and Eleanore Renault. As the second-born, Lucien was never destined to inherit anything significant; instead, he was meant to serve as a political pawn for his parents' schemes. While his elder brother basked in their parents' attention and praise, Lucien forged a strong bond with his elder brother Xavier, developing a friendly rivalry in everything they committed to. Yet, between the two, Lucien excelled in his family’s dedication to martial prowess, further entrenching his position as a supportive role to his brother.Living under his brother’s shadow fostered a desire to escape the confines and responsibilities of his House. Without a word, Lucien enlisted in the ranks of the Temple Knights, causing a stir among his family. Were it not for Xavier’s counsel, Lucien would have been exiled from the family, although considering Lucien’s lack of an inheritance, there was not much he could lose. Finding his purpose among the military arm of Ishgard, Lucien’s martial abilities were recognized by the Order of the Knights Dragoon, leading to his selection to join and train among its ranks. Upon passing the Order’s extensive and challenging trials, Lucien continued to serve Ishgard as one of its many spears.Fully devoting himself to the Order’s goals and the defence of Ishgard, Lucien’s absence from his family grew, leading to his estrangement. Deployed across Ishgard to fight or defend against the onslaught of dragons, Lucien would learn of his family’s demise during one such deployment. News of his family’s death drove the Dragoon to seek out the dragons responsible for the act. Tracking each drake one by one and dispensing vengeance, the knight’s mission came to an end upon the conclusion of the Dragonsong War. Lamenting the loss of his brother the most, Lucien struggled with his decision to take up Xavier’s mantle as heir. As new relations bloomed between Ishgard and Hraesvelgr’s brood, Lucien, the only scion of his family, decided it was better for him to continue his path as a warrior, leaving House Renault’s legacy as an anecdote in history.

A veteran of the Order and the Dragonsong War, Lucien has served Ishgard and its people since his adolescence, unwavering in his dedication. Despite the war's end, he continues to perform his duty, keeping his vigil to safeguard Ishgard against any form of threat, percieved or physical.Last of His Blood: Lucien, a scion of the noble House of Renault, serving under House Fortempts, was born into a world of tradition and honor, with martial prowess a key pillar of House Renault's traditions. Once revered for fielding some of the realm's finest swordsmen, it now stands as a mere echo of its former glory. The aftermath of Dalamud's fall and the subsequent Calamity turned the family's vibrant farmlands into an icy wasteland, crippling House Renault's finances. The final, tragedy came when a pack of Wryms, stormed the Renault's estate, feeding off its weakened state and leaving no survivors. As the last living member of House Renault, Lucien grapples with the weight of his family's legacy, keeping his distance from restoring what once was, leaving it in disarray and obscurity.
